When and how did you start out?
I have been doing this sport now since 2007 and I think that experience is my strength. My friend was working in Red Bull Finland and he told me to participate when the race came first time to Finland in 2007. My experience in Snowboarding and Ice hockey was a good combination and all the things what I had done in my spare time when I was a little started to pay out in Red Bull Crashed Ice. I’m competing and guiding in Bmx-racing too, it’s very similar, adrenaline is similar and the start gate in RBCI too, it will help me to focus to now my limits. Racing each other is the training to crashed ice, it is all about mental strength and tactics! Speed is important but knowing the track like formula one driver knows his car is very important, where to pass and so on.
I think it might be finding my present working area as a Firefighter and also a knowledge what is after comfort zone. it wasn’t easy to find own area to work but when I realized that I wanted to be a firefighter I founded a one and only path where I really belong. Now I’m studying to be a paramedic in an ambulance helicopter. What come going beyond comfort zone, once you cross the line, you will do it again and again, because its only way really to do things and RBCI is all about that, that’s way I want to race again this year also:). You win yourself every time when you step to the track, every heat is like a homerun. My greatest moment was in 2010 when suddenly got a phone call from Red Bull and had an invitation to a big race in Quebec, I did well there too and had nice experience and kick off for the next years.
What do you do in your spare time?
My Job gives me lots of spare time and I mostly use it to sports and relaxing. Many of my colleagues have a second job beside but for me sports are passion what have followed me whole of my life and I don’t see it comes to an end. I roller-skate a lot and if I can choose between jogging and longboarding to do my cardio I will choose the second one, it’s fun and you get many areas trained in the same time. In the summer we are doing wakeboarding with my friends and hang out in the lake in my hometown Tampere Finland. Spending time playing PS4 is also good way to relax too.
